2016 Gold Racquet

Invitations will be sent out shortly to the elite members of the MCC Real Tennis Section (handicaps < 20) to participate in the MCC Real Tennis Section's Gold Racquet Competition.

This competition will be run between now and end of the year with the final hopefully coinciding with our final MCCRTS Member's Night on 9th December 2016 depending on the availability of the finalists.

The MCCRTS will pay the court costs for all matches up to 2 hours per match, simply arrange with the Pros to bill the MCCRTS accordingly when booking the court.

The MCCRTS will also cover the travel costs to Melbourne for the winner of the Hobart section of the draw for their Quarter Final match.

The format is a best-of-3 six game sets IHSC-Sanctioned knockout tournament, however, the format for the earlier rounds (i.e. before the semi-finals) can be negotiated and agreed upon between the participating players depending on court/time availability.

Tournament prize money(*) has been allocated to this year's event as follows:
 
    Winner:        $500
    Runner Up:  $250
    3rd & 4th:     $100

(*) Only professionals are eligible to to take winnings as a cash prize, however, amateurs will be provided with 'support in lieu' to the equivalent value in terms of vouchers for airfares, accommodation, racquets, etc.
